My wife has had a Kidney Transplanted 7 years ago. As she has a reduced Immune system what can we do to help her fight off possible attacks from this new swine Influenza?
We live in Southern Spain within Spanish communities here in the mountains. Everyone knows someone from Mexico and visitors are frequently here! We are only 60 miles from Morocco !

Oh i would like to know this as well my mum had a heart transplant 4 years ago, would imagine they would be very suceptable just be careful thats all you can do…
glad transplant must have went well!! Its great!
Just take the same precautions as she normally does for flu viruses
do not travel , stay away from in-closed places for a while, and frequent hand washing. if they have any of the symptoms, see their dr. asap.if you know anyone who is not feeling well, maybe better to call them instead of visiting.
Due to the anti-rejection drugs she takes, she is at a MUCH higher risk for ANY infection.
You BOTH need to take extra precautions:
1) Stay away from public gatherings until the threat is gone. Stay out of shopping malls, theaters, and especially airports. if you have any air travel scheduled in the next 2-3 months, consider re-scheduling.
2) WASH YOUR HANDS 6-8 times A DAY. Buy some of that Hand Sanitizer Creme.
3) SHE may want to consider a surgical mask when she goes out.
But ALSO understand that the threat in the United States is not as great as has been projected. Right now that have been only about 100 case of swine flu, and only ONE death. That is a mortality rate of less than 1%
AND, the rest of the pople who got the Swine Flu have or are already recovered! fact is, MOST people who get the Swine Flu live through it!
She needs to keep in CLOSE touch with her doctor, and follow his recommendations.
This Influenza kills healthy people quicker, faster, and in larger numbers. So your wife is ok. You’re not though… unless ure 35+… then ure good.

Brother you need to take professional advice from a good physician in such situations.
From a religious angle Islam has probihited the consumption of pork and its products so please avoid pork at all costs and its by products like gelatine and fats etc.
Maintain a good diet with lots of water and vegetables and allowed protien by the doctor. Our prophet]peace be on him]recommended a good diet of Pumpkins,Barley, dates, figs, pure honey, black seed[the ones used on bakery toppings 5-7 seeds].
Brother say a lot of prayes to Almighty God and ask him for good health for your wife.In such situations very similar to a plague, islam advices us to take precautions and not to run away from the situation because we can never avoid our destiny.Life and death is in the hands of Almighty Allah. We have young people dying, healthy people dying, people dying in accidents, crashes, wars etc.We cannot escape this reality but what we can do is live our lives as best as we can by worshipping the Almighty God and taking care of our wordly affairs in a moderate manner.
